At Bloomsbury, we use a number of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning methods to identify how we positively impact the young people in our programmes.

Theory of Change
Developed in liaison with experts at the University of Westminster, this framework evaluates where impact is felt so we may continually improve provision and maximise impact on individual and population scales.
LONGITUDINAL SURVEYS
Our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning process, collected via twice yearly player and parent Impact Surveys, determines how we deliver our football provision.
Tracking key impact areas across physical activity, mental health and life skills offer us essential, long-term insight into how we are systematically creating change.

Our Youth Board
Our Youth Board has representatives from every single one of our football and futsal programmes. They regularly meet in person at our Camden office, to strengthen the ties between our players and discuss how we can improve our offering.
Hearing directly from those on the pitch is essential, as it allows us to centre our strategic delivery and growth plans around those in our communities that will benefit from the provision.
We’re proud to be getting over 6,500 young people on pitch ever week – but this is just the beginning. Our growth strategy informs how we want to grow to 20,000 players a week by 2028.
Community oriented
Bloomsbury’s Communities are local, people-centric hubs where we deliver our sessions. Partnering with schools, running Holiday Camps and offering mixed ability Training Sessions allows us to build more cohesive, integrated communities, so that it’s not just the participants that benefit from our football provision.
Addressing inequality
Our hyper-localised approach focuses of supporting young people living in areas that rank in the bottom 5% in the country for Income Deprivation Affecting Children.
We’re breaking down the access barriers that still exist for the players who, without us, wouldn’t be able to play football regularly.
Fighting gender imbalance
The reality is that girls face unique barriers to getting on pitch, meaning they’re more likely to miss out on football’s benefits.
By tackling these issues head-on, we’re empowering girls to play, learn and thrive through the magic of football.
Looking Forward
By 2028, we will grow from six Bloomsbury ‘Communities’ to fifteen. These 2km hubs, in areas of highest deprivation, will enable 20,000 young children every week to improve their sense of belonging and ability to progress. We’ve also committed to a 50:50 gender split across our programmes, to give girls the space they need to thrive.

Bloomsbury's programmes develop physical health, mental wellbeing and soft skills. The sessions are tailored specifically for London's most vulnerable young people and are making a real difference to their lives.
Sir Keir Starmer

Bloomsbury's approach of helping young people to get active and connect in-person is an exemplar of the long-term, prevention-first approach needed to support the nation's mental health at scale.
Mental Health Foundation

There can be no more important task for those concerned with the health of the population than to reduce unjust and avoidable health inequalities. I wholeheartedly welcome Bloomsbury Football Foundation's approach of making the health benefits of sport accessible to all.
Professor Sir Michael Marmot
